The newest police vehicles at SJC are Segway Personal Transporters, individual mobile platforms, which travel at speeds up to 12.5 mph and increase the visibility of the patrol officers by placing them eight inches above the ground. They provide quick, quiet transportation allowing officers a better view of the crowds at the airport, festivals, or other large public gathering which enable them to respond more quickly to crime situations and emergencies.
